About Us

Who We Are

Hyde Park Academy

Hyde Park Academy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting parents in their stewardship of educating their children. In recent years, parents have been told they lack the qualifications to teach their own children. We are concerned with some of the content, methods, and narratives shaping education today, and many parents feel overwhelmed and ill-equipped to take charge of their children's education amid their other responsibilities. Others are concerned their children will not be adequately prepared for their future. Our nonprofit organization was established with the belief that, with Christ as the foundation and by providing the right tools, parents can confidently reclaim their role as stewards of their children's education, teaching them in "light and truth," regardless of the educational path they choose.

Core Values

Our Core Values

Discovering Divine Identity

Each person is a child of God with God-given talents and a unique mission. Education transcends the acquisition of knowledge to the development of character. Guided by the Spirit and engaged parents, children discover their divine mission and have the faith to fulfill it.

Empowering Agency

We empower the gift of agency by creating an educational environment that inspires children to actively engage in learning. By encouraging exploration and personal accountability, we help each child become a proactive agent in their education and life mission.

Recognizing Truth

We recognize that all truth comes from God. We embrace the counsel to "seek learning by study, and also by faith" (D&C 109:7). Guided by the Holy Ghost, we can learn the truth of all things. Hyde Park Academy provides materials to learn truth in a framework anchored in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Promoting Excellence

We use state and national standards as guideposts in creating curriculum while staying committed to high-quality material that inspires hearts and expands minds. This approach helps each child achieve personal excellence and fulfill their divine potential.

Home-Centered Education How To

Ages 0-7 Foundations

The first seven years of a child's life lay a vital foundation for future growth. During this time, a child's secure attachment to their parents shapes how they feel about themselves, others, and the world. Through loving, consistent relationships, children learn to trust, regulate emotions, and explore with confidence. Everyday moments including talking, playing, and comforting, strengthen this bond and support healthy physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Ages 8-11 Building

The building years, roughly ages eight to eleven, are a time when children strengthen and build upon the foundation laid in early childhood. During this stage, children develop confidence, responsibility, and moral understanding as they practice independence while still relying on strong relationships with parents. Consistent guidance, clear expectations, and meaningful connection help children build character, resilience, and healthy social skills. To learn more, we'll be launching a YouTube channel soon. Ages 12-14 Strengthening

Ages 15-18 Launching

Parents

Parents play a central role in their child's growth and learning. Through love, guidance, and consistent support, parents help children build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. No matter the type of school or educational setting, the home is where the foundation is built, strengthened, and prepared for the future. To learn more about how to create a home-centered education, we will be launching our YouTube channel soon. Make sure to sign up for our mailing list to stay up to date on when we launch our videos!

Mentors/Administrators

Mentors, teachers, and administrators can play a vital role in supporting home-centered education. In a home-centered education, these roles function as guides and partners that support families and strengthen the learning environment and experience parents are building at home. To learn more about how to create microschools, learning pods, co-ops, and other alternative educational systems that support a home-centered education, our YouTube channel is coming soon with videos to support you. You will also learn more about how a parent takes on these roles as a homeschooler and how a parent can engage in the public school system.

Family Science Course

A companion to our Introduction to the Sciences course for middle school, this family course invites everyone to learn together. It explores science through the Creation account in the book of Moses (Pearl of Great Price). This course teaches the truth in the gospel along side what we know and are learning in the scientific world.

Family Temple Preparation

This year-long guide supports families in preparing their family or their children for temple attendance. Each month focuses on a question drawn from the temple recommend interview, helping children understand and prepare for what they will be asked before attending the temple for the first time. The course provides study materials for parents, along with things to read, watch, and do together as a family, and is also well suited for families seeking to teach the core beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Family Values Curriculum

This year-long guide helps families focus on one core value each month, grounded in scripture and a parent's role in teaching their children. It provides short studies for parents and meaningful activities, readings, and media for the whole family to share and discuss at home.

Emotional Resilience for Families

This course will provide resources for parents to study as well as ideas for teaching and discussing emotional resilience with your family. This will be for all ages.
